(PROVIDENCE, R.I.)-The Most Rev. Thomas J. Tobin, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence, issued the following statement relative to the tragic events that took place in a Connecticut elementary school earlier today.
“On behalf of the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Providence, and in my own name, I extend my most sincere sympathy and prayers to all those whose lives have been touched by the terrible and tragic events that have taken place this day in Connecticut. Although even the best of words will fail at a moment like this, my prayer is that the Birth of Jesus, Emmanuel – the God who is with us in good times and bad – will bring some measure of comfort and peace to all.”
