“I take you to be my wife/husband. I promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. I will love you and honor you all the days of my life.”(Vow formula in the sacrament of Matrimony)
Congratulations on your recent engagement and decision to enter into the Sacrament of Marriage before Christ in the Catholic Church! The Diocese of Providence strongly recommends that you participate in a Marriage Preparation Program as soon as you can; ideally six to eight months before your wedding. All parishes in the Diocese of Providence require couples to participate in the program to deepen their commitment to the Sacrament and obtain a deeper understanding of one’s partner.
Immediately upon setting a wedding date with your parish priest, please contact the Office of Marriage Preparation & Enrichment at 401.278.4576 to register for a program.
You may choose a program convenient for you relative to dates and the location. Please know that enrollment size is limited. Marriage Preparation programs are designed to be attended by couples only and registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Parish Based Programs (English & Spanish)
Given by a team of trained married couples and a priest or deacon, this program provides an opportunity for engaged couples to explore fundamental areas of love, marriage, and family life essential to a lasting Christian marriage. Life experiences are presented for consideration to give couples a sense of the real process of understanding each other more deeply. Exercises complement the ideas presented, and help to stimulate dialogue.
Topics include: communication, family of origin, finance, personality, sacramentality, spirituality, a sexuality component which includes a brief overview of Natural Family Planning and a session about planning your wedding liturgy.
